We visited the Senior Citizens' Home in Sečovce

We played cards together, listened to many stories from life, joked around, and sang together.

Seniors are a group that is not often the centre of attention. As the director of the Senior Citizens' Home in Sečovce, Ing. Ján Dobránsky: "People remember seniors before Christmas when they are more inclined to help. That's when we have visitors, they enjoy presents. The rest of the year, almost nothing."

That is why we decided to visit the Sečovce Senior Citizens Home in January. Volunteering is a part of corporate life at DeutschMann. As many as 86.4% of our employees are involved in various activities (figure for 2024).

19 of us were involved in this assistance.  Some contributed financially, others baked a cake, brought cosmetics, crossword puzzles, dried fruit, biscuits, tea and other things that make seniors happy. Six of us went to visit the Senior Citizens' Home in Sečovce. We handed over gift packages and greetings from all our colleagues and gave the seniors the most precious thing - our time. We gave out good cheer, actively listened and kept 30 residents company. The games we prepared for the seniors were very entertaining for them. They even showed their talents in throwing the ball into the box. We also played cards together, listened to many stories from life, joked around, and sang together. We had a great time together and the idea of a joint event in the summer was born. On the way home we were already planning it.

This activity came about while we were still planning the Giving Tuesday activities, in which we also helped OZ Kotva, OZ Help for Dogs in Eastern Slovakia and the Senior Citizens' Home in Vojčice.

At DeutschMann, we help all year round, both the company management and the employees themselves come up with ideas to help, which we then implement together.
