Get to know us better - Peter Leczo
This is the interesting story of our Director of Services and Delivery
We are each writing our personal story. We all have a different one. Together we write ours - DeutschMannish. We asked Peter Lecz about his journey that led him to us and his plans. He also talked about why a temporary stopover in Slovakia eventually became the place where he found his permanent home. And maybe some of you will find yourself in his story. Or will be an encouragement to you. Judge for yourself.
What were you doing before you came to DeutschMann?
After school, in 2003, I went to Prague for work. By not having a strong family background, I didn't go to "college". From Prague I went to Ibiza, to the USA, to Tenerife. I worked in the gastro industry - first as a bartender, then as a bar manager - of a famous Irish Pub. It meant doing 6 nights a week, from 9pm - 5am. Around the age of 30, I got bored of it.
When did you return to Slovakia?
After 10 years abroad I wanted to come back to Slovakia for a while. To rekindle relationships and later move to Prague, where I planned to live. I didn't come back with the intention of staying here permanently.
I just opened Profesia and looked for a job where I could use the languages. It was only going to be for a short time before I left for Prague. I just gave it a shot, I wasn't serious about it at the time, and sent my resume to DeutschMann.
I almost wouldn't make the interview. I had a trip to Prague to go on, train tickets bought, packed. But my dog got loose and I had to go looking for him. I missed the train. That's when I got an invitation for an interview at Deutschmann. It was Friday and the interview was on Monday. Since I stayed at home, I went to it and they accepted me.
How were your beginnings at DeutschMann?
The beginnings were difficult. I was never the studying type and there is a lot of studying to be done here. Every day I had a personal struggle whether not to go or to keep going. Every day I wondered whether to give up. But I guess I have a habit of fighting against something or with something. That's what kept me here. The job as a dispositor caught me, I've enjoyed it so far.
I started to thrive as a dispositor. 3 years later I was the head of a group of dispensers. I had been at DeutschMann for 5 years when I asked for a promotion to Division Director. In those 5 years I made, I think, quite a qualitative leap forward.
How long have you been with DeutschMann?
I have been with DeutschMann for 10 years. This is my first and only job in Slovakia. Since I've been here, I've not only made a change professionally, but also personally. I have been more wild in nature, had some quirks and different life situations. Nobody is perfect, not even me. But a couple of people in the company have pulled me along, even privately. Everybody comes to a crossroads at some point and looks for themselves. There were people who pointed me in a direction and with their help I handled situations both professionally and privately. It's not just about work here. I owe a lot to the people and the company. That is why my personal loyalty to this company is at the highest level.
Why are you happy to be at DeutschMann?
I look forward to work every morning. I like the environment I work in, the people I work with. I enjoy that the work is dynamic. Basically, we deal with the same thing - transportation , but it's always a different form. I find it fulfilling.
What challenges and plans do you have ahead of you?
My challenge is to create and maintain a successful division. When the dispositions are successful, the division will be successful and the company will be successful. Everything is related to everything. My little dream is to have a capacity of 50 dispensers and as many production people as possible.
